WOLFF & MÜLLER has an opencast mineral extraction. The produced clay material is processed in a modern vermiculite concentration factory, which has the capacity of 20,000 tons of concentrated crude vermiculite per year.

Areas of application:
In foundries, building chemistry, water treatment and the glass industry. The deposit in Quedlinburg is formed of 87-million-year-old involutus sandstone from the cretaceous period. The current mining depth is about 40 meters.

Areas of application:
In fillings of conduits and pipes in civil engineering, infrastructure substructure, restructuring of post-mining landscapes and construction of landfills and rehabilitation of old landfill sites.

Glazifluviatile sands and gravels form the deposit of Koschendorf, where floating dredgers up to 17m depth operate.

Areas of application:
In structural components and floors made of concrete in building construction, conduits and pipes made of concrete in civil engineering, infrastructure substructure made of concrete or asphalt concrete paving, sports facilities (beach volleyball arenas, horse riding tracks, etc.), landscaping of outside facilities.

The sediments of the deposit Saalhausen are tertiary and pleistocene age and were deposited in an up to 120 m deep channel structure. The reasion why it needs to be partially mined is that the sediments lying in shrunked layers.
